Honolulu-based The Queens Health Systems plans to build an 80-bed hospital in Kailua-Kona, a move that aims to improve access to care for rural populations on Hawai‘i Island.

Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice has completed a $90 million emergency department expansion, opening its doors to patients Dec. 16, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported.

St. Louis-based WashU Medicine has renamed its neurosurgery department the Taylor Family Department of Neurosurgery after receiving a $50 million gift from Barbara and Andrew Taylor. 

Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai has received a $35 million donation to advance research and care across interventional cardiology.
