Jackson-based West Tennessee Healthcare plans to break ground on a new hospital in Bolivar in late summer.

The new facility will replace West Tennessee Healthcare Bolivar Hospital, which was built in 1974, according to a March 27 health system news release. It will feature inpatient beds, outpatient services, an emergency room and negative pressure isolation rooms to support preparedness for infectious disease outbreaks.

The hospital will be constructed on land donated by the City of Bolivar. Construction will be partially funded by a $9.6 million award from the Tennessee Department of Health’s Healthcare Resiliency Program Capital Investment Program.

West Tennessee Healthcare Bolivar Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital.
