Greenville, S.C.-based Bon Secours has made progress on two freestanding emergency departments in Greer and Powdersville, S.C., part of the system’s push to expand 24/7 emergency access in the state, according to an Aug. 5 news release shared with Becker’s.
Bon Secours is part of Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health.
The Greer freestanding ED was a $25 million investment, while the Powdersville location was $21 million, a spokesperson for the system confirmed Aug. 5 with Becker’s.
The two locations will expand on Bon Secours’ existing freestanding EDs in Five Forks, S.C., a $23 million investment that opened March 5, and Simpsonville, S.C., which opened in 2022.
“As our region continues to grow, so does the need for convenient access to emergency care,” Greta Gue, director of emergency services at Bon Secours, said in the release. “We’re excited to see both of these projects moving forward and to bring another level of access and convenience to families in Greer, Powdersville and the surrounding communities.”
The Greer location is in early stages of development. The Powdersville building exterior is nearing completion and expected to open in early 2027. It will also feature a medical office building with multiple primary and specialty care services.
