Morgantown, W.Va.-based Mon Health, part of Vandalia Health is moving forward with plans to build a $26.5 million neighborhood hospital in Bridgeport, W.Va.
Five things to know:
1. Vandalia Health Mon Harrison Neighborhood Hospital will be a two-story, 40,000-square-foot hospital. It is being modeled after Vandalia Health Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital, which opened in 2022 in Whitehall, W.Va., according to an April 3 news release.
2. The first floor of the new hospital will have 24/7 emergency care with eight emergency rooms; 10 private inpatient rooms; pharmacy services; and advanced radiology services. The second floor will be constructed as shell space reserved for future clinical or administrative expansion.
3. Construction will begin in 2025 and is expected to take just over a year.
4. Health system officials said Vandalia Health Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital’s success has proven that neighborhood hospitals can offer the same quality of care as larger facilities.
5. Charleston, W.Va.-based Vandalia Health formed in 2023 through the merger of Mon Health and Charleston-based CAMC Health System.
