Orlando Health St. Cloud (Fla.) Hospital has opened an expansion that includes two cardiac catheterization lab procedure rooms and a new 10-bed intensive care unit, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.

The two-story, 20,000-square-foot addition opened Jan. 26. The project cost $32 million, according to WESH, the NBC affiliate in Orlando.

The expansion enables Orlando Health St. Cloud to become the city’s first facility meeting the standards to treat ST-elevation myocardial infarction, the most severe type of heart attack. The hospital expects to meet all STEMI receiving criteria by summer 2026.

Orlando Health St. Cloud is part of Orlando (Fla.) Health, a nonprofit academic health system with about 41,000 employees.
