Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare will donate $4.8 million to Malibu, Calif.-based Pepperdine University to help kick off the School of Nursing in its College of Health Science.
“We believe that investing in nursing education is vital to the future of healthcare,” Sammie Mosier, BSN, senior vice president and chief nurse executive for HCA Healthcare, said in a Dec. 5 news release. “It is a privilege to support Pepperdine University’s new School of Nursing as they prepare the next generation of caregivers with the tools, confidence and compassion to care for patients and communities.”
Pepperdine’s School of Nursing, which has 68 students enrolled and opened in fall 2025, offers undergraduate and graduate nursing degree programs, like an entry-level master of science and a bachelor of science in nursing for clinical nurse leaders. Clinical rotations for nursing students can also be completed at HCA’s Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
The donation will help create Pepperdine University’s 30,000-square-foot facility on its Calabasas (Calif.) campus, which comprises a clinical stimulation lab, immersive learning environments and high-fidelity manikins.
In recent years, HCA has invested in nursing education, including supporting early-access nursing programs through targeted community grants and expanding its Galen College of Nursing to 25 campuses nationally, the release said.
