Nashville-based Ascension Saint Thomas said it is investing more than $537 million in capital projects across Middle Tennessee, according to a Nov. 13 news release.

The system said the investments will support new facilities, expanded inpatient capacity and technology upgrades to meet growing demand in the state’s Davidson, Rutherford and Montgomery counties. The projects combine new initiatives with ongoing work to modernize and expand the health system’s regional footprint.

Projects include upgrades to emergency departments, expansion of inpatient and surgical units, and improvements to public areas at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown and Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville. In Rutherford County, investments will support work at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford and development in Westlawn and Lascassas. In Montgomery County, the system is advancing previously announced plans for a new hospital in Clarksville.

The regional investments are supported through a series of tax-exempt bonds facilitated by state and local partners in Middle Tennessee.

Ascension Saint Thomas is part of St. Louis-based Ascension, a national health system with operations in 16 states and the District of Columbia. Its network includes approximately 99,000 employees, 95 hospitals and more than 22,000 aligned providers.
