Nick Turkal, MD. President and CEO of Aurora Health Care (Milwaukee). Dr. Turkal was appointed CEO of Aurora Health Care in 2006, responsible for the health system’s overall strategy and direction. He led the integration of Aurora Health Care’s 1,700 employed physicians into a single medical group and now oversees 31,000 clinician and non-clinician employees. During his tenure, the health system slowed cost increases and implemented a single EHR, which contributed to fewer readmissions and errors. Dr. Turkal is a member of the American Hospital Association Governing Council for Health Care Systems and past chair of the Wisconsin Hospital Association board of directors.
