16 latest hospital, health system CEO moves

The following hospital and health system CEO moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Oswego (N.Y.) Health appointed Charles "Chuck" Gijanto president and CEO, effective Sept. 14.

2. Daughters of Charity Health System named John Ferrelli president and CEO of its Seton Medical Center in Daly City, Calif.

3. Phoenix-based Banner Health named Shelby Nelson CEO of its southern Wyoming operations.

4. Anthony Stahl was named CEO of San Marcos, Texas-based Central Texas Medical Center, effective Oct. 5. 

5. Daniel F. Evans Jr., president and CEO of Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health, plans to retire. Mr. Evans will relinquish his role as president but will continue to serve as the statewide health system's CEO until May 1, 2016. Current IU Health executive vice president and COO Dennis M. Murphy will be promoted to president of the organization, effective immediately, and take over as CEO on May 1, 2016.

6. Kenneth Gibbs, chairman of the board of trustees at Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Maimonides Medical Center, will become president and CEO of the hospital.

7. Dean French, MD, CEO of Sierra Vista, Ariz.-based Canyon Vista Medical Center, is leaving his position to become CEO of Community Medical Center in Missoula, Mont.

8. Ikenna "Ike" Mmeje was named CEO of Doctors Hospital of Manteca (Calif.).

9. Rand Wortman, president and CEO of Richland, Wash.-based Kadlec Health System, plans to retire in May 2016.

10. Jeff VanHorn, CEO of Mountain Valley Regional Hospital in Casper, Wyo., resigned.

11. Jacksonville, Fla.-based St. Vincent's HealthCare named Michael Schatzlein, MD, CEO, effective Sept. 8.

12. Moab (Utah) Regional Hospital named Jennifer Sadoff CEO.

13. Brunswick-based Southeast Georgia Health System appointed Michael D. Scherneck as its new permanent president and CEO.

14. Brian Herwig, CEO of Estes Park (Colo.) Medical Center, submitted his resignation.

15. Leonard Hernandez, president and CEO of Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Kan., is leaving the organization for another job.

16. Bill Sugg, president and CEO of Ord, Neb.-based Valley County Health System, resigned following an investigation that revealed allegations of harassment and conflicts of interest.
