Daughters of Charity names John Ferrelli Seton Medical Center CEO: 5 things to know

Daughters of Charity Health System has named John Ferrelli president and CEO of its Seton Medical Center in Daly City, Calif., effective immediately.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Ferrelli.

1. In this new role, Mr. Ferrelli will be responsible for the operations of both Seton Medical Center and Seton Coastside in Moss Beach, Calif.

2. He will replace Joanne Allen, who is retiring after nine years with DCHS. Her last day will be Sept. 18.

3. Mr. Ferrelli has more than 25 years of leadership experience encompassing hospital systems, acute care, long-term acute care and ambulatory centers, primarily in California. Most recently, he was chief administrative officer at USC Norris Cancer Hospital in Los Angeles.

4. Mr. Ferrelli’s operational and financial experience includes successful years serving as corporate COO and in other leadership roles for El Segundo, Calif.-based Avanti Hospitals.

5. Prior to Avanti, he served as president and CEO of JFK Medical Center in Indio, Calif., a member of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare. During his time there, his focus on patient care ultimately led to JFK Medical Center achieving the second highest quality ranking in the 81-hospital Tenet system, according to a news release.
