13 latest hospital, health system executive retirements

Becker's Hospital Review reported on the following hospital and health system executive retirements in the last three weeks. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. South Boston, Va.-based Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital President Chris A. Lumsden will retire, effective March 31, 2018.

2. Falls Church, Va.-based Inova CEO J. Knox Singleton, 69, revealed plans to retire, effective July 1, 2018.

3. Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University Health System announced longtime president and CEO Mark Neaman will transition from his current role to become executive chairman of the board of directors.

4. Michael Henze, CEO of Osage Beach, Mo.-based Lake Regional Health System, will retire after holding the position for 27 years.

5. Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine's Vice President for Corporate Security Keith Hill is retiring in January 2018.

6. Lucille Janatka, Central Region president at Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare, is retiring, effective Oct. 1.

7. Medford, Mass.-based Hallmark Health President and CEO Alan Macdonald is retiring, after 20 years with the health system.

8. Providence, R.I.-based Care New England Health System President and CEO Dennis D. Keefe will retire at the end of the year.

9. Michael Faas, president and CEO of Wyoming-based Metro Health-University of Michigan Health, is planning to retire, effective 2018.

10. Peter J. Plantes, MD, senior vice president of physician enterprises at Irving, Texas-based Christus Health and CEO of Christus Physician Group, plans to retire Nov. 3.

11. Tom Huebner, president and CEO of Rutland (Vt.) Regional Medical Center, announced his plans to retire, effective March 31, 2018.

12. Detroit-based Henry Ford Hospital President and CEO John Popovich, MD, announced his retirement, effective at the end of the second quarter of 2018.

13. Irvine, Calif.-based St. Joseph Hoag Health CEO Richard Afable, MD, plans to retire by the end of the year.
