Henry Ford Hospital CEO Dr. John Popovich to retire next year

Detroit-based Henry Ford Hospital President and CEO John Popovich, MD, announced his retirement, effective at the end of the second quarter of 2018.

Dr. Popovich, who is also executive vice president and CMO of Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System, has worked at Henry Ford since 1980, after completing his pulmonary medicine fellowship there. He was initially a senior staff physician for Henry Ford Medical Group and director of the medical intensive care unit.

Over the years, Dr. Popovich served in numerous roles at Henry Ford, including internal medicine department chair and senior VP for clinical affairs for the health system. He assumed the Henry Ford Hospital president and CEO roles in 2010, and the health system EVP and CMO roles in 2012.

“His legacy includes building, leading and nurturing a team that is well-positioned to continue the hospital’s reputation as an academic medical center highly regarded for its research, education and clinical excellence,” said Wright Lassiter III, president and CEO of Henry Ford Health System.
