The board of trustees for the Crook County Medical Services District, which includes Crook County Hospital in Sundance, Wyo., voted Aug. 27 not to renew the contract of district CEO Micki Lyons, DNP, RN, and ratified that decision at a Sept. 4 special meeting viewed by Becker’s.
Chris Thomas was appointed interim CEO, according to an Aug. 31 Facebook post from the medical services district. She previously worked at the hospital as a nurse and interim CEO and helped lead its transition to critical access hospital status.
“While I was not involved in the Board’s discussions, decisions, or votes regarding this transition, I did witness that the decision was difficult for those involved,” Ms. Thomas said in the post. “… Micki Lyons has been an important part of the organization, and I understand that her departure has been difficult for many people. I wish Micki nothing but the best in her future endeavors and appreciate the contributions she has made to CCMSD.”
Ms. Thomas also said her priorities over the next several months will be to provide stability and continuity, assist in developing a three-year organizational strategy and help recruit and onboard a new CEO.
Dr. Lyons joined the district as a registered nurse in 2008, later serving as family nurse practitioner and becoming CEO in 2020, according to her LinkedIn profile.
