8 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Lahey Hospital and Medical Center to unveil $80M ED Jan. 25
The addition of several community hospitals to the Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Hospital and Medical Center network caused overcrowding in its emergency department. However, the opening of a new $80 million expansion Jan. 25 will eliminate that issue, according to the Boston Business Journal.

2. Cleveland Clinic receives planning permission to build facility in London
The Westminster City Council in London granted the Cleveland Clinic planning permission to convert a former office building into the clinic's first advanced hospital in London.

3. South Lake Hospital breaks ground on new health pavilion
South Lake Hospital in Clermont, Fla., expects to hire at least 50 employees for its new health pavilion at Blue Cedar, according to an Orlando Business Journal report.

4. Via Christi rolls out $50M St. Joseph campus renovation
Wichita, Kan.-based Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph is planning a $50 million renovation.

5. Providence Regional Medical Center Everett files plans for $32M expansion
Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (Wash.) is seeking state approval to add 70 beds in a $32.2 million expansion, reports The Herald.

6. Doctors Hospital of Manteca to open upgraded ER
After three months of construction, Doctors Hospital of Manteca (Calif.) opened its upgraded emergency room Jan. 18, according to the Manteca Bulletin.

7. NJ board OKs Inspira Health's $326M hospital plan; commissioner to make final decision
New Jersey's health planning board approved Woodbury, N.J.-based Inspira Health Network's proposal to shutter its Woodbury location and replace it with a $326 million hospital in Harrison Township, N.J., reports Courier-Post.

8. California hospital opens $160M ED expansion
San Antonio Regional Hospital in Upland, Calif., opened a new $160 million tower, reports the Inland County Daily Bulletin.
