Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network opened its $252 million St. Luke’s Heart Hospital at its Anderson Campus in Easton, Pa., Oct. 2.
The five-story, roughly 355,000-square-foot heart hospital is the largest construction project in St. Luke’s more than 150-year history by both cost and square footage, according to an Oct. 2 news release from the system. Construction began in 2024.
The facility adds 140 beds, nearly doubling inpatient capacity at the Anderson Campus, which opened 15 years ago. It has four dedicated heart operating rooms, one hybrid operating room and 10 interventional suites for cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and interventional radiology. It also has a cardiac ICU for high-acuity patients. Equipment includes advanced imaging systems, heart-lung machines and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machines.
The hospital will serve as a Siemens international show site for cardiac imaging and adds teaching space for a new cardiac fellowship program. Additions that serve the whole campus include a rooftop helipad, which will speed transport to the campus trauma center, and a larger cafeteria.
