Daughters of Charity extends contracts with unions

Los Altos Hills, Calif.-based Daughters of Charity Health System has signed a short-term contract extension with Service Employees International Union and the California Nurses Association, according to a San Francisco Business Times report.

The contract with CNA, which represents 1,600 RNs in four of the system's hospitals, has been extended to Dec. 15, the system said, according to the report. For SEIU, the union's contract for nearly 2,900 workers in all six Daughters of Charity hospitals has been extended through Oct. 31, the report reads.

The original CNA contract was set to expire June 30, while the original SEIU contract was set to expire May 1.

The news comes as Daughters of Charity is looking for another potential buyer for its six hospitals following the collapse of its proposed sale to Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services.
