New $8.6M Imaging Suite at Methodist Hospital in Texas Will Allow Study of Infectious Diseases

The Methodist Hospital Research Institute, part of The Methodist Hospital System in Houston, is working with Philips Healthcare to develop imaging technology that can study infectious diseases, according to a hospital system news release.

An $8.6 million imaging suite that includes an MRI, PET-CT scanner, SPECT-CT scanner and a C-arm X-ray will allow scientists to study infectious diseases without exposing the equipment or rooms to the diseases. The suite will have biosafety level 3 containment that will isolate organisms from the outside environment.
