Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Tops List of Five Pediatric Hospitals in Healthcare IT

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC has been recognized by KLAS, a healthcare research organization, as the leader in its use of healthcare information technology among pediatric hospitals, according to a release from Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The four runner-ups were 60-bed American Family Children’s Hospital at the University of Wisconsin Medical Center in Madison, 350-bed Denver Children’s Hospital, 126-bed Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland and 390-bed Children’s Hospital Boston.

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh began its implementation of an electronic health record in 2001 when it became one of the first hospitals in the nation to adopt a computerized provider order entry system.
