The telestroke service, which is offered through the telehealth program at Anchorage-based Providence Alaska Medical Center, connects patients and physicians to neurologists in either Anchorage or Seattle. This specialty physician can view patient imaging scans and evaluate their motor skills, according to Homer Tribune, to aid in diagnosis and prescription.
This program marks an addition to South Peninsula Hospital’s telehealth services, which also include an electronic intensive care unit.
