The company sent an urgent recall letter to hospitals and surgeons about the recall last week. It includes products in Zimmer’s hip, knee and trauma lines.
Zimmer said the devices underwent a cleaning process that could result in bacteria and residual debris getting stuck on the products.
The company contracted with an unnamed supplier that performed the final cleaning on some of its products. Zimmer issued the recall to remove devices cleaned by that supplier.
