U.S. News & World Report Names America’s Best Hospitals

U.S. News & World Report has released its list of “America’s Best Hospitals” and has named 21 hospitals to its Honor Roll, which recognizes hospitals that ranked at or near the top of at least six of the publication’s 16 lists of best hospitals by specialty.

According the report, rankings were determined by a statistical analysis of various indicators including reputation score, mortality index, new patient safety index, medical outcomes and other care-related factors.

Hospitals were ranked in 16 specialty areas, including cancer, heart and heart surgery, neurology and neurosurgery and orthopedics.

The top five ranking hospitals on the 2009 America’s Best Hospital’s Honor Roll are as follows: Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital.
