Leavenworth, Kan.-based St. John Hospital and Buffalo, N.Y.-based Erie County Medical Center tied for the lowest readmission rates among inpatient psychiatric facilities in the U.S., according to CMS data.
CMS gathered provider-level data on quality measures, including transition records, screening for metabolic disorders, readmissions, medication continuation and more. The most recent report, updated Aug. 6, collected data from 1,451 facilities between July 1, 2021, and July 16, 2025.
The national readmission rate is 19.4.
Here are the inpatient psychiatric facilities with the highest and lowest rates of patients readmitted to any hospital within 30 days of discharge.
