10 best hospitals for cardiology, heart surgery ranked by US News

U.S. News & World Report released its annual listing of the best hospitals for cardiology and heart surgery Aug. 1. The list looks similar to the 2022 ranking, but there are some notable changes.

While Cleveland Clinic remained in the No. 1 position, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Mayo Clinic swapped spots, ranking in the second and third position this year, respectively. 

Also of note, Lenox Hill Hospital at Northwell Health replaced Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 10th place, edging up from the 15th position in 2022. Brigham and Women’s dropped to No. 18 in this year’s ranking. 

In addition to naming the best hospitals in the U.S., U.S. News ranks hospitals in 21 procedure and condition areas. The top 10 hospitals for cardiology, heart and vascular surgery for 2023-24 are:

  2. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles)
  3. Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.)
  4. Mount Sinai Hospital (New York City)
  5. NYU Langone Hospitals (New York City)
  6. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell (New York City)
  7. Northwestern Medicine-Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago)
  8. Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston)
  9. Stanford (Calif.) Health Care-Stanford Hospital
  10. Lenox Hill Hospital at Northwell Health (New York City)
