Here are 10 systems and facilities closing their long-term care, nursing homes and rehabilitation units in 2024:

Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based Vibra Healthcare and Rapid City, S.D.-based Monument Health opened a rehabilitation hospital that provides both inpatient medical rehabilitation and long-term acute care.

Newsweek and Statista, a global data research firm, recently named the top nursing homes in 25 states.

Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based CoxHealth and Springfield, Mo.-based Select Medical Corp. are partnering to build an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Missouri.

In an eight-year stretch, 645 nursing facilities in the U.S. closed, the number of nursing facility residents dropped 12% and the average number of hours residents received declined 9%, a KFF analysis found.
