Inspectors said two licensed practical nurses delayed calling in a registered nurse or physician after the patient began exhibiting symptoms such as an irregular pulse, vomiting, incontinence and “grayish” skin. The report stopped short of claiming the facility caused the man’s death.
The Health Department cited the facility for lack of quality care, administering unnecessary drugs and keeping incomplete medical records. It recommended CMS fine the facility.
The nursing home paid a “civil penalty” and has taken corrective measures to comply with Health Department regulations, said Allysa L. Olsen, the facility’s administrator. The two LPNs were suspended and must complete training to come back to work.
