WellSpan Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital has expanded its inpatient pharmacy from 1,100 to 1,700 square feet, enhancing the hospital’s compounding capabilities, according to a news release shared with Becker’s

The hospital, part of York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health, renovated the pharmacy’s IV room into a compounding suite with ISO 7 certification and a dedicated room for handwashing and gowning. The suite also has a positive-pressure cleanroom for sterile compounding and a negative-pressure cleanroom for hazardous drugs, according to the release.

“The benefits of this new facility are multifaceted. The controlled environment allows for the storage of commonly compounded sterile products for up to 10 days refrigerated, compared to the previous 24 hours,” the release said. “Additionally, the upgrade has freed up clinical space on the third floor, allowing for potential future expansion.”

The pharmacy became operational in summer 2025.
