“Pfizer has conducted a thorough evaluation of the Irungattukottai and Aurangabad sites and concluded that due to the significant long-term loss of product demand, manufacturing at these sites is not viable,” a spokesperson from Pfizer told The Hindu Business Line.

A spokesperson said affected employees have been notified and will be kept informed about the site exiting process.

The two plants in India were acquired by Pfizer in its acquisition of Hospira.
