Humana's home health push, by the numbers

Through its multiple acquisitions, Humana is building a home-healthcare empire. Here are numbers to know:

1. In July 2018, Humana and private equity firms TPG Capital and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe completed their acquisition of Louisville, Ky.-based post-acute care provider Kindred Healthcare for $4.1 billion, with Humana owning 40 percent of the company.

Humana announced April 27 it would purchase the remaining 60 percent of Kindred from the equity firms in a $5.7 billion deal expected to close in the third quarter of this year. The transaction includes the company's 43,000 employees across 40 states.

 2. Humana announced in February its partnership with in-home medical provider DispatchHealth. At the time of the announcement, DispatchHealth, which launched in 2013, had offered 24/7 home-medical services to 220,000 patients in 29 cities.

 3. Humana announced June 14 it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Florida and Texas-based One Homecare Solutions.
