Patients who opt in to Northwestern Medicine’s MyChart patient portal must agree not to seek jury trials or class-action lawsuits if information stored on the portal is misused. Instead, patients are instructed to bring disputes up directly with Northwestern Medicine, either through arbitration or in small claims court.
A Northwestern Medicine spokesperson told WBEZ the new rules apply only to digital services, such as MyChart.
Patients who do not agree to the new terms will lose access to MyChart, according to WBEZ.
