St. Joseph Hospital to Cut Positions, Costs

St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, Calif., will lay off an unspecified number of employees as part of a plan to cut up to $30 million from its budget, according to an Orange County Register report.

The hospital posted a $7 million loss in the first four months of its fiscal year, according to the report. The losses can be attributed to lower patient volumes, lower reimbursement rates and a change in the hospital’s payer mix.

Employees who will be laid off will be notified in February or March, according to the report.
