Unionized nurses at four Pennsylvania hospitals took their quest for new contracts public this week, according to The Times-Tribune.
The nurses — from First Hospital of Wyoming Valley in Kingston, Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital — made their quest known during a Tuesday news conference, the report states.
All of the nurses, who are represented by either Service Employees International Union Healthcare Pennsylvania or the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, have contracts that end soon or have already ended.
Contracts at Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Wilkes-Barre General expire at the end of January while the contract at Moses Taylor expires at the end of 2017, according to The Times-Tribune. The contract at First Hospital expired at the end of last month.
Staffing numbers is a key contract issue for nurses.
