The director of media relations for the university released a statement acknowledging that WKU withdrew its deal with The Medical Center after engaging in lengthy discussions concerning the protests outlined by the Bowling Green-based Western Kentucky Orthopaedic & Neurosurgical Associates, according to the article.

The university will now seek bids for the contract through the state’s request for proposal process, beginning Sept. 26.

WKONA filed a legal protest on Sept. 16 alleging that the $22 million agreement between WKU and The Medical Center was conducted illegally behind closed doors.
