The Public Health Trust, which governs Jackson Health, also extended a separate agreement between the two organizations regarding the Miami Transplant Institute. The institute was created through a joint collaboration between the two organizations in 1970 The contract will remain in place until 2023 and Jackson Health officials will provide a maximum of $7 million to be used to further the institute’s goals, according to the report.
Under the second contract, officials plan to offer additional infectious disease and gastroenterology and endoscopy services, and improved pediatric cardiology and gastrointestinal care for patients at Miami-based Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The total contract amount was about $5 million less than the agreed upon amount in 2016, according to the report.
