Renown Health partners with Nevada emergency services provider REMSA

Reno, Nev.-based Renown Health has agreed to finance three community health programs created by the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority, also in Reno, that focus on delivering healthcare services and reducing out-of-pocket costs for community members in the Reno area, according to EMSWorld.

The three programs — Nurse Line Health, Community Paramedicine and the Ambulance Transport Alternative — were launched in 2012 through a three-year, $9.8 million grant given to REMSA by CMS. The programs received an one-year extension on the grant, which concluded this past summer.

Renown Health approached REMSA and offered to finance the programs to allow them to continue.

REMSA officials said the programs have and will continue to have a huge economic impact in the communities that rely on their services. Officials predict that by continuing the programs, the community will be able to save nearly $1.6 million over the next year by minimizing unnecessary emergency room visits, hospital admissions and readmissions and ambulance transports.
