Two hospitals in Lawton, Okla., have agreed to combine to form a new health system called Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma.
Comanche County Memorial Hospital’s proposed acquisition of Southwestern Medical Center was approved by the former’s board of directors and the Comanche County commissioners, according to a Sept. 15 news release. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Leaders said the combination will expand capacity to meet increasing demand, enhance access to specialty care and services previously limited in the area, and streamline operations for greater efficiency and faster response times, according to the release. The combination will also lead to investments in equipment and facility updates.
Comanche County Memorial Hospital is a 265-bed facility and Southwestern Medical Center is a 199-bed facility.
