Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, Mich., has completed a merger with IHA, one of the largest physician groups in the Ann Arbor area, according to an SJMHS news release.
IHA has more than 150 physicians across 32 practices and cares for more than 250,000 patients. It will join SJMHS, which has seven hospitals and nearly 2,700 physicians. Together, the organizations will create one of the largest integrated health networks in Michigan.
The financial terms of the merger were not disclosed. IHA’s governing board and shareholders approved the merger this past October.
Saint Joseph Mercy also plans to acquire Ann Arbor-based Michigan Heart. SJMHS previously announced it hopes to close that transaction by 2011.
