To determine its potential partner, a Massena hospital board subgroup will visit the remaining two hospitals prior to starting affiliation conversations. Massena CEO Robert Wolleben said he anticipates the talks will begin in January.
“That conversation will take some time. Affiliation probably won’t be settled until at the earliest sometime in the first quarter of next year,” Mr. Wolleben told Watertown Daily Times.
Massena Memorial Hospital is in the process of transitioning to a nonprofit facility. To do so, Massena has to find an affiliate and obtain a certificate of need, according to the report.
