Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours has acquired a Virginia hospital and orthopedic practice in two separate transactions that closed Nov. 1.
Six things to know:
1. Bon Secours acquired Fauquier Health in Warrenton, Va., from Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health. The acquisition establishes Bon Secours’ first hospital presence in Northern Virginia and expands its statewide hospital footprint to 12, according to a Nov. 2 health system news release.
2. Fauquier Health is Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health’s 48th hospital, a spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s.
3. The transaction involving the 97-bed acute care hospital closed Nov. 1, following an asset purchase agreement announced in August. The hospital will operate as a network partner of Bon Secours. Financial terms were not disclosed.
4. Fauquier Health is expected to maintain its existing services and operations without interruption to patient care. Employees are expected to remain in their current roles, and Rebecca Segal will continue serving as the hospital’s president.
5. Bon Secours also acquired Hampton Roads, Va.-based Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center, effective Nov. 1, according to a separate Nov. 2 news release shared with Becker’s. The practice’s three locations will be rebranded as Bon Secours Orthopedics and will operate alongside the system’s existing orthopedic physicians and practices.
6. As part of the orthopedic practice acquisition, care providers and associates were offered positions with Bon Secours. Additional terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
