The deal will combine Providence-based Lifespan’s specialty services with Coastal Medical’s primary care operations, the organizations said in an April 27 news release.
Financial details about the transaction weren’t disclosed. It comes after Lifespan and Coastal Medical signed an asset purchase agreement in January 2021.
In addition to acquiring Coastal Medical, Lifespan is seeking approval from state and federal regulators to merge with Care New England, also in Providence, and create an integrated academic health system with Brown University.
