The affiliation process has been ongoing since late 2011. In April, the boards of directors of each organization ratified a letter of intent that allowed the organizations to move forward with creating a partnership.
Now that the affiliation agreement is signed, the regulatory approval process will begin. The partnership is expected to receive approval by the end of this year, according to the release.
Penn Highlands Healthcare is the parent company of DuBois (Pa.) Regional Medical Center, Brookville (Pa.) Hospital and Clearfield (Pa.) Hospital.
