Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health and Belle Mead, N.J.-based behavioral health provider Carrier Clinic signed a definitive agreement to merge, Hackensack Meridian announced Aug. 1.
2. University of Kansas Health System acquires competing hospital
Kansas City-based University of Kansas Health System completed the purchase of Great Bend (Kan.) Regional Hospital and its affiliated clinics.

7. LifePoint sells 3 Louisiana hospitals
Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health has completed the sale of three Louisiana hospitals to Allegiance Health Management in Shreveport, La.
8. Atlantic Health System partners with Optum's urgent care business on 11 centers
Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System is partnering with Optum's MedExpress to coordinate care with 11 of the company's urgent care centers in northern New Jersey, the organizations said June 28.
