1. ProMedica forms $7B network with HCR ManorCare acquisition
Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica acquired Toledo-based HCR ManorCare, the second largest provider of post-acute services and long-term care in the nation, for $4.4 billion through a joint venture with Welltower, a real estate investment trust.

2. Quorum to sell Tennessee hospital
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health, the 28-hospital spinoff of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, entered into a definitive agreement to sell a 45-bed hospital in Tennessee, the health system announced July 27.

3. Why a Maine hospital is buying a pizza shop
Maine Medical Center, a 637-bed facility in Portland, will buy local restaurant Pizza Villa as part of its $512 million expansion project.

4. Ascension’s shuttered Wisconsin hospital picked up by Froedtert Health
Milwaukee-based Froedtert Health & the Medical College of Wisconsin acquired the former Wisconsin Heart Hospital in Wauwatosa from Ascension Wisconsin.

5. Nebraska’s last large community health system joins 3-hospital system
Fremont (Neb.) Health finalized its affiliation with Nebraska Methodist Health System, a three-hospital system in Omaha, July 23.

6. Private equity firm to buy LifePoint Health for $5.6B
Private equity firm Apollo Global Management will purchase Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health for $5.6 billion including debt, the two entities announced July 23.
