The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions, partnerships and general transactions took place or were announced during the past week.
1. 3 Minnesota health systems launch regional partnership
Willmar, Minn.-based ACMC Health, Willmar-based Rice Memorial Hospital and St. Cloud, Minn.-based CentraCare Health are forming Carris Health to better serve west-central and southwest Minnesota.
2.Care New England, Partners HealthCare extend merger deadline
Boston-based Partners HealthCare and Providence, R.I.-based Care New England agreed to extend the deadline for reaching an agreement on their proposed merger from the end of December to Jan. 31.
3. Blessing Health System, Hannibal Clinic merge
Quincy, Ill.-based Blessing Health System is acquiring Hannibal (Mo.) Clinic, moving their recent affiliation forward.
4. Summa Health finalizes sale of Ohio hospital after 3-year battle with partner
Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health finalized a deal to sell its 40 percent share of Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to an independent, third-party investor, ending a three-year battle with Western Reserve Hospital Partners, the Akron-based physician group that owns a 60 percent share of the hospital.
5. UHS to acquire behavioral health hospital, 2 clinics in Mississippi
King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services entered into an agreement to purchase a 109-bed behavioral health hospital and two outpatient clinics in Gulfport, Miss., from Memorial Hospital at Gulfport.
6. Tenet, Baylor Scott & White to sell 218-bed Texas hospital
Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health and Tenet Healthcare, also in Dallas, reached a definitive agreement to sell Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-White Rock, a 218-bed hospital in Dallas, to Pipeline Health, a hospital management company based in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
