The goal of the affiliation is to strengthen and expand healthcare for residents in east Mississippi and west Alabama, and will bring UMMC’s medical education, research and advanced care practices to Anderson Regional and its subsidiaries.
As part of the affiliation, UMMC medical residents and fellows will conduct clinical work at Anderson Regional alongside the health system’s 200-member medical staff, according to the report.
Anderson Regional officials told The Meridian Star the institutions had been negotiating the partnership for about one year.
