The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions and general partnerships took place or were announced in the past week.

1. WellCare, Oakhurst Medical Centers team up for value-based contract 
WellCare of Georgia, a subsidiary of Tampa, Fla.-based WellCare Health Plans, formed a value-based partnership with Oakhurst Medical Centers in Atlanta.

2. Munson Healthcare to acquire West Shore Medical Center
Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare is set to acquire Manistee, Mich.-based WestShoreMedicalCenter.

3. Good Shepherd Health System to join Duke LifePoint
Longview, Texas-based Good Shepherd Health System received approval July 18 from Gregg County Commissioners Court to amend the health system’s current lease and transfer the agreement from GSHS to Duke LifePoint Healthcare, a joint venture between Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System and Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health.

4. Baptist Health South Florida, Nicklaus Children’s collaboration aims to better patient care 
Baptist Health South Florida, based in Coral Gables, and nonprofit Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, part of Miami Children’s Health System, are partnering to improve healthcare through coordination and cooperation.
