The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Law School — which are just blocks apart — have partnered to create the new program.
Currently, 65 percent of medical students and 75 percent of law students graduate with other joint degrees or certificates. For example, the university’s JD-MBE program enables students to earn a law degree and a Masters of Bioethics degree, while its ML program, lets students get a Masters in Law with an emphasis on health law.
The MD-JD program will begin accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year.
