Northwell Health’s Lenox Hill Hospital raised more than $1.6 million at its Brain Tumor Center Gala in New York City to fund research, clinical trials and treatment advancements for brain tumor patients.
More than 600 guests attended the annual event, which included remarks from clinicians, researchers, survivors and caregivers, along with a live auction and awards ceremony recognizing leaders in brain cancer research, patient care and advocacy, according to a July 24 news release.
“Good Morning America” anchor Lara Spencer returned as master of ceremonies. Ms. Spencer has advocated for glioblastoma research since her mother, Carolyn VonSeelen, was diagnosed with the disease in 2023. Ms. VonSeelen died earlier this year; Ms. Spencer said care from the Lenox Hill team extended her mother’s initial nine-month prognosis to two and a half years.
John Boockvar, MD, vice chair of neurosurgery and director of the Brain Tumor Center at Lenox Hill Hospital, said the $1.56 million raised at the 2025 gala is funding clinical trials, a glioblastoma vaccine, experimental therapeutics and the recruitment of physician-scientists to translate lab discoveries into new treatments.
