The section was previously part of Baylor’s Department of Medicine.

Dick Kuo, MD, will serve as interim chair of the department. Dr. Kuo is currently an associate professor of emergency medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. A committee has started its search for a permanent chair.

“Emergency medicine is a high priority for Baylor College of Medicine,” said Baylor College of Medicine President, CEO and Executive Dean Paul Klotman, MD. “It has become more interdisciplinary in nature, with a distinctive organizational structure, a separate training program and a unique research portfolio.”
