Fairbanks Memorial CEO: Transition to community-owned structure going 'good' after Banner Health split

The CEO of Fairbanks (Ala.) Memorial Hospital said the hospital's transition into a community owned and operated facility following its decision to cut ties with Banner Health in December 2015 is going "good," according to a newsminer.com report.

Fairbanks Memorial's split with Banner Health ended a 15-year affiliation with the Phoenix-based health system. Effective Jan. 1, Fairbanks-based Foundation Health Partners, a subsidiary of the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation, began operating the hospital.

"I feel good about where we're headed," Greg Johnson, MD, CEO of Foundation Health Partners, said. "We are truly transforming in 2017."

Dr. Johnson said the transition to Foundation Health Partners created 30 jobs, according to the report.
