The hospital is now operated by Fairbanks-based Foundation Health Partners, a subsidiary of the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation.

Jeff Cook, president of the hospital foundation, told the Daily News-Miner Banner has been an excellent partner, but the transition was needed to allow Fairbanks Memorial to be more community focused.

“We want to control our own destiny more,” Mr. Cook told the Daily News-Miner. “We appreciate everything [Banner has] done. They’ve been great in this transition too.”
